Boxstoberfest 2009

Who all is going to make it this year? Count me in, hope to see you there

Alex Walker 09-06-2009 10:33 PM

I'll be there. Stateofidleness should be too.

timothy 09-07-2009 12:55 PM

Tamera and I are going. Let's take a 986forum group photo on Saturday morning.

ppbon 09-08-2009 09:31 AM

I'll be there ...

... with some PedrosGarage goodies to give away, such as:
a TechnoTorque, a TechnoBrace, a TechnoMount and a few PedrosGarage hats.
Hope to see you all there.
Happy Boxstering,
Pedro

Norminhouston 09-08-2009 02:40 PM

Can't wait. Wish I was leaving tomorrow! My sixth Boxstoberfest. :)

Alex Walker 09-08-2009 02:51 PM

So how will we know who's from the forum?

You guys will laugh when you see my box, I replaced the passenger side headlight with a clean one but the driver side needs some electrical work done before I can put in the new one. So I've got one clean headlight and one nasty burnt out yellow one.

stateofidleness 09-08-2009 03:32 PM

hey alex, i should be able to make it if we leave saturday morning
should be fun!!

tightbox 09-09-2009 04:33 AM

Count me in...

EDIT: Are you SA guys going up as a group? Can I join?

rob76turbo 09-09-2009 05:39 AM

Bummer...I really want to go, but we have an away game in Vernon TX this Friday and that is already a lot of miles heading in the opposite direction :(

Have fun everyone and keep them pointed straight....except when rounding some of those great twisties!!

Alex Walker 09-09-2009 05:43 AM

Tightbox, I just sent you a PM about driving up together.

RandallNeighbour 09-09-2009 06:20 AM

I will miss you guys this year. Tight finances, work deadlines, and home renovations will keep me away.

Next year though!

Have a great time and be sure to post pics!!!

Alex Walker 09-09-2009 06:22 AM

Anyone want to set up a way so that we can identify other 986 members? I know we'll get nametags, how about we write 986forum underneath our names?

tightbox 09-09-2009 06:52 AM

Randall, that is NO excuse. I really wanted to see those new leather door panels you beat me to!!!

timothy 09-09-2009 07:07 AM

Alex, I think you just volunteered to call out before the drivers meeting so we can meet and greet the forum members.

You'll find my car by a Guinness logo on the wind deflector, and find me as the redhead detailing it one last time.

Alex Walker 09-09-2009 07:50 AM

damn. Responsibility. Alright, sounds like a plan. Looks like Tightbox and stateofideleness will be caravanning up saturday morning with me.

timothy 09-09-2009 07:56 AM

Yeah, responsibility sucks. That's why I delegated it :D

I know Wingnut2u and you know Tightbox and stateofideleness, so you look for me, I'll look for you, and then we can get everyone together without needing to make a general announcement.

timothy 09-09-2009 08:26 AM

Norminhouston, any distinguishing features on your car so we can find on the tarmac? See you on Saturday!

Norminhouston 09-09-2009 08:31 AM

'08 Silver Cayman S or as some call it "a hardtop Boxster". :)

Sounds like a plan. I'll be the 19 year old kid in the crappy silver box.

mptoledo 09-09-2009 12:24 PM

Sounds great, but where is it? Anybody got a link? I love roadtrips!!

http://www.boxstoberfest.com/

It's this weekend in Fredericksburg, Texas, 1.5 hours west of Austin.

stateofidleness 09-09-2009 12:48 PM

I noticed registration was closed on the site. If I missed officially registering, will I have any problems while there?

The drive itself is open but the lunch stop is pre-paid as part of registration, as is the Saturday night dinner. Lunch is at a biker place and you may be able to order off the menu or pay once there, but no guarantees. From past experience it's a bit of a mad house as everyone arrives at once. Dinner is much more formal and planned ahead so that's not something you can really walk up to the night of. My suggestion is to email Michael Shassere right away and ask if you can get registered and paypal him the money.

stateofidleness 09-10-2009 10:03 PM

Tim, thanks for the pm. I got registered!
Can't wait!

any recommendations for a "things not to forget list" for a first-timer?

Wingnut2u 09-11-2009 04:06 AM

Don't forget to bring the Box and a smile:cheers:

Camera and detailing supplies. Fredericksburg Inn has a hose and there is always someone washing their car.

stateofidleness 09-11-2009 05:30 AM

Good deal. I've never "detailed" my car since getting it from the dealer.... Hopefully I can learn some great tips on washing and waxing. Black boxster always shows water spots, swirls, and generally not as "shiny" as the day I bought it.

Alex Walker 09-11-2009 08:53 AM

I washed, polished and waxed mine on monday and she's been in the garage since. I did some swirl remover polish and it did a pretty good job. I think it was 3M imperial? I'd like to know what stuff you all use for the windows, it seems the stuff I've tried always leaves some streaks that show up in the direct sunlight. Pretty annoying when driving.

Oh, and hopefully it doesn't rain tomorrow. It's been raining on and off here in Austin for the past few days.
