Took rear trunk carpet out and found this??????
 

Hi all,

Took out rear trunk carpet out to find a wire (looks earth) to be cut???

Would anyone know what it is for?? The vehicle drives fine and all works but am curious why it was snipped..

It's a '98 986, manual and it is all standard, no aftermarket accessories fitted..

It's a ground wire. To what, it is uncertain since you can't see where it goes. If you can, track down the other end of the wire and then you'd be able to tell what it's supposed to be grounding.

looks to be something aftermarket since the ring terminal doesn't look oem... if it was stock it would have been tied together with the other wires on the ring terminal... just strip both ends and tie em together...

ok, i ended up joining the wires back together and tried the vehicle to see if anything would happen, what i noticed is that the rear wing would come up at slow speeds and retract whenever it feels like it...... very weird so i might just undo the wires and let it be...with the wires separated the wing still operates manually....never mind...thanks for your suggestions anyways.
