Most cayenne buyers are not the daily drivers of the vehicle as far as I can tell. Here's how it goes:
"Honey, I'm thinking about buying a Porsche. I've always wanted one since I was a lad, and we're doing well now, so I think I will go shopping for one." "You've lost your freaking mind! I'm driving a six year old Navigator with 140k on it and everything's falling apart on the thing. You will be buying me a new mommy mobile, not your dream car." "Baby, I have a great idea. Let's go look at the Porsche Cayenne and we can both get what we want!" And now you know why they don't wave back at you. They're not really Porsche owners at heart... although they pay through the nose for wear and tear items on their cars just like us. |
Now that it's time to sell my Boxster ($$ needed to pay down debt incurred for my '07 987), I'm appreciating its curves and fun factor more than ever. :D
Re.: the Porsche brotherhood, had two experiences this year. First, in PA last month, I flashed a posse of about twelve 911s rapidly going the opposite way, and only a few flashed back. C'mon guys, no love for a Box? On the other hand ... this summer, while driving through an exclusive area of Long Island, on a long roadway lined with gated estates, a middle-aged guy unable to hold it any longer, I decide to park the Box on the shoulder while I went behind a tree. :p While I was still doing my business, an SUV pulled over right next to me and my tree. Annoyed for the interruption of my semi-privacy, I thought, what does this guy want, to tell me I'm trespassing? I looked over, and it was a friendly Cayenne owner just checking on a fellow Porsche person! He had actually done a U-turn to see if I was OK! :) |

I was test driving a Mustang Bullitt brought it home, parked it in the driveway with the wheels cocked just right went in side looked out through the kitchen window. Man the way it looked it was a thing of beauty there was no way she was going to be able to resist this. I brought her to the window and did the big arm spread "Taa Daaa". She turns to me and in a very dry low voice says "Thats nice take it back" and left the room. |

Actually? I have.
Even contributed to it. Had forgotten...or remembered only vaguely  Don't recall any subsequent threads on your vehicles. Still have the '01S? |
Yes I do, It's my Daily Driver. It now has over 110K miles on it.
