Top does not come up

I had my hardtop on for about nine months and removed it yesterday. Hit the switch to raise the top—nothing—no sound no action. I checked the fuse, took out the relay and gave it a few taps and reseated it—still nothing. Also toggle the micro switch in the windshield--nothing. The parking brake light goes on when the brake is engaged and off when it is not. I think there is a sensor somewhere else that might have frozen but not sure where and how to get to it. There is an emergency procedure to get the top up but sounds a bit scary—might just put the hardtop back on for now. Any advice?
THanks
Bill

I had mine sort of do that. I had to put the windows all the way up and toggle the fron locking mechanism. I guess it thought it had already gone up or something. It worked for me, hopefully it works for you .

Thanks--I found the problem--it was the top latch micro switch assembly--actually there are two micro switches in that assembly--both switches tested OK with an continuity tester BUT there was a bad solder joint on one of the two metal strips that connect the switch to the connector.

This link has details of what happend:

There's 5 common problems that will give you those symptoms, knocking them around and puling the plugs in and out (for same reason cited below) can help can save you$$$

Switches:

1) switch under the clam shell,
2) Switch in the handbrake (Idiot Light should come on, if it's not...)
3) switch on the middle of windshield/top latch.

Relays: General you need to pull them in and out to make sure the contacts are...contacting. Than wap'm a few times on the ground, good smacks. this will break them loose if there stuck and knock any corrosion or debris on the contacts off.

Relays:

1)There's a big double sized looking one on the relay panel hidden behind your left foot kick panel.
2) there's two in a hidden sliding tray hidden on the left side of the trunk...you'll have to look them up, there's about 14 in there.

You can also check the fuse to... work it in and out a bit for good measure.

Now your a star, PK
