Oil dipstick broke

I was measuring my oil level since I hadn't done so in a while and my oil dipstick broke as I was pushing it back in. Not sure if it matters but have a '00 986s. The part that I have now is the yellow grip and 25" of metal. Also when I pulled it back out there was some smoke coming from the tube. If this everything that was left behind then fine, but if the red piece and some metal fell into the reservoir, is this something I need to be concerned with? I was also planning on changing my oil soon if that matters. Thanks in advance.

If it were me, I'd drop the pan to get the debris out for my piece of mind. It shouldn't be that hard.

*EDIT*

I should check all the threads before posting!!!!!
