996 Turbo Wheels Would it fit my Boxster?
 

These wheels are stock 18" rim, 8" front and 11" rears. Wheel offset 8/50 and 11/45 Tires are Kumho Ecsta SPT 225/40 ZR18 and 295/30 ZR18. Would these fit my 1997 Boxster?

Porsche never spec'd or offered 18 inchers for the '97, in fact they have cautioned against them.

In '98, after adding additional structural bracing to the chassis to better withstand the stresses of larger wheels, Porsche offered them for the first time.

There are several people running 18's and larger on '97s, apparently without issues.

So, if like some others, you wanna play tag with the Devil and go with them, I believe you'll need 5mm spacers (minimum) to get the offset right if using 996 wheels.

I have original 18" Turbos (993 wheels) on my '99 and these match the required offsets w/o spacers, so you could always be on the lookout for these too.

So far, I don't think anyone has been able to run 11" rear wheels on a Boxster. There just isn't clearence unless you set the ride at at "rally" style. You would need spacers to push the rims out to clear the inner struts, but that would also push the outers into the fender, itself.

I have 18X10's on mine and clearence is extremely tight already.

I have 18x10.5 with 275's on mine and the tolerances are minimal. I can barely get a credit card between the tire and the strut and the space between the tire and the wheel well is about the same. Personally I would not recommend going wider than a 10" wheel.

A friend of mine put turbo wheels on his boxster and the rears were 19x11, he had to use spacers and roll his fenders.
