The deal was finalized today!! :dance:

Yes, it's true. Wendelin Wiedeking and Holger Haerter both stepped down yesterday and the VW board voted to absorb Porsche today.
Certainly not a bad thing, considering what Ferdinand Piech has to offer as controlling interest with Wolfgang Porsche. Just look at Audi's involvement in motorsport and their advance street machines (R8 & R10). Good things could be on tap for the future. http://www.autoweek.com/article/20090723/CARNEWS/907239998 |

Only time will tell, I'm glad I have a pre "the people's car" Porsche... |

I agree, VW may be a very good thing. They've done well by the other brands they've absorbed over the years. Bentley, Lamborghini, Bugatti and of course Audi. The only thing to be possibly concerned about is the amount of engine sharing they do.. Hopefully we'll never see a narrow angle V6 in a Boxster.

Could this have been a Porsche prototype if the cards were played now?

A turbo diesel powered Boxster. Count me IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Assuming it doesn't blow like the current engine. :chicken: |
Most of us would have voted against Prosche buying up VW. Most of us didn't believe there were WMD in Iraq either.
Vast education and experience doesn't necessarily equate to brains!!!!!!! These are terribly expensive mistakes. Personally, I believe Prosche should have remained independent and stuck to what it does best.......make sports cars. Not sedans, not SUVs or (what's next) mini-vans. |
I'm wondering what this means for the Boxster/Cayman. Knowing how VW works, they might do a bit of platform sharing. A modified version of the 2 liter turbo in the Boxster? I don't know if it'll fit, but it will work amazingly with emission laws.
I doubt Porsche will change drastically, if past experiance is anything to go by they might just add 4 wheel drive to all Porsches like they did to Lamborghini, but to me that's not an enormous change. |

Besides, that VW looks absolutely gorgeous! |

If you recall, this only happended because Porsche tried to buy VW, not the other way around. Unintended consequences. :) |
as far as the baby boxster / blue sport i'm on the fence. it looks like a jack-o-lantern from both the front and the back....

R8 = detuned Lambo Gallardo.
Even Jeremy Clarkson made a joke about this on the episode 2 weeks back about Gallardos burning up. But I suppose this is much better than a blown Porsche engine because it'll be an instant write off and insurance will replace it with a new one. :cheers: |
Does that mean we should say....FARFEGNUGEN from now on?!! :D
