How many mpg do you get on average? When you answer, be sure to share what size engine you have.

I usually fill mine just before or right at the point that the low fuel light goes on. I am usually somewhere in the vicinity of 215 miles at that point. The on board computer indicates that I get 16.3 mpg (reset about 6 months ago). I have a 2000 S (3.2). Yes, it is expensive for an everyday driver. Remember when we though $1.25 was expensive for a gallon of gas? Oh for those days. But it is so much fun to drive that I add entertainment value to it and I think I come out waaaaay ahead. |

I have only gotten less than 300 once, and it was the first tank of gas I put in the Boxster. Between me getting used to the clutch, and me showing off from EVERY stoplight, I got like 220 miles that tank.
I moved to a new home about 550 miles away a couple months ago, and I got nearly 400 miles a tank on the drive up here (I got 397 or something before I finally stopped). That was my best.

 Avg. for me is ~330-350

yellowjacket, what's the year and engine size of your Boxster?
Man, that's high gas mileage. Do you only drive 55?

My drive to and from work is 45 highway miles round trip, and I drive about 65-70 the entire way (traffic is steady, but flows). I never crack 3krpm until the engine reaches 180 degrees. That's not to say I don't give her a good workout on almost every highway entrance ramp, etc, etc.

I am a pretty spirited driver, but probably nothing compared to most of the people on this board. As a result, though, I'll spend a lot less on tires, clutches, gas, and insurance than a lot of you :-)

Well, that helps explain your great milege. I do the rush hour commutes in Tampa every day. Nothing like puttering along in second on I-275 behind some monster SUV that I can't see over or around (but sometimes under lol). The only saving grace to the inbound commute is at the end when the traffic lightens and I get to run her up the gears, get some speed and then shoot around a bank that everyone else has to brake for. Amazing how the little things can make us so happy. |

That sounds like my old commute home in Atlanta. Took me over an hour on a GOOD day to go 20 miles from Marietta to Brookhaven, and about 45 minutes of that was a 2 mile stretch (between 285 and the Ashford Dunwoody and Johnson Ferry intersection, for any Atlanta people reading this). The last mile or so would open up, and if I was first in line, I'd easily hit 80 on this little 2 lane windy road.

I'm at half a tank now and the tripmeter is at 90 miles. I'm on the more high revving shifting point end of the spectrum.
I tried being good once using cruisecontrol and rarely going over 3,000 RPM and managed 250 miles. Boring....

Highest miles I've had on a tank was 382. MPG for me has ranged from 18 to 28 with ~23 average for mostly highway miles. I'm a highway leadfoot but keep under the radar screen on the side streets. Mine is a 2001 2.7L.

My first long road trip (and full tank) a week ago was about 360 miles round trip in mostly light traffic. Averaged about 75-80 and my fuel light came on at just under 400 miles, I was on cruise most of the way. Pretty happy with that.
This tank is a bit under 1/2 now with about 210 mostly short hop in town driving since my work commute is only about 2 miles, its hard to rack em up (or have any fun). So far gas mileage is looking pretty nice for me and my new toy.
