Air Bag Idiot Light on Dash
I have a 1997 Boxster with low miles. The air bag light came on the dash while driving home last friday. Had the dealer read the codes and it turns out to be a sensor in the seat belt harness driver side. They want roughly $700 for the repair. I told them I needed to ponder it a bit. The interesting thing is they reset the code and the light has not come back on. I don't understand why this is. If there's a fault in the system, why would it not trigger the light? Is the dealer taking me for a ride? My understanding is these seat belts have been a problem since the first Boxster rolled off the line.
Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on the strange phenomenon? THanks, Michael R. Cassola |
I had this issue in a BMW and replaced the sensor in the seat. The light came back on and I left it on.

Cross your fingers. My bet is that sooner or later the light will be back on.
