Paint spots on her bum
 

I recently bought an 03 Boxster S in Seal Grey. She's beautiful, with lowered suspension making her even better.

What I didn't notice before the sale was that there are tiny paint flecks on the rear bumper. I assume that the previous owner must have done some painting nearby. How you would let that happen is beyond me, but there it is.

They are only tiny and you can't notice unless you look closely, but I know they are there, and there are hundreds of the bloody things.

So my question is: What's the best way to get rid of them? Some I can take off quite easily with my fingernail, but others are more stubborn. Plus there's so many and I can only use one nail at a time. Any ideas?

Use a claybar.

Don't use your fingernail, you'd be surprised how that can leave a bunch of tiny scratches on the paint.
When I bought my Seal Gray Boxster it was covered in tree sap. It was well worth the $150 to get it professionally detailed and those guys know every trick in the book to get stuff off the paint without damaging it.

Sounds like it won't be too hard. Start with Mothers Prewax cleaner - or other very mild polish. If that doesn't get it I would try a claybar or a buffer with light cleaning. BTW, I love my small orbital buffer for stuff like this. Elbow grease is for people with greasy elbows not for cars :-)

Claybar it, it will all come off. After that put a good coat of wax on it.

I'm going to third Clybar

This should get the spots off. 40 grit works the fastest.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I finally got around to claybarring it on the weekend. Works beautifully, except on the very bottom under the doors where the surface is too rough anyway.

I figured out that the previous owner must have driven through some wet paint, and there was lots more than I thought at first.

Anyway, most of the spots are now gone and I feel so much better for it. Even though I'm the only one that knows the spots are there.
