Horseshoe dash trim removal?
 

I'm installing a switch for the OBC hack in one of the dash blanks, but I'm not sure how to remove the horseshoe trim piece that houses the blank buttons. I've tried just some light prying/pulling but I'm sure it's screwed on somewhere. None of the DIY's for the OBC hack have details of how to remove the trim.

Can someone assist with how to properly remove that piece of console trim.

They snap in and out, attached is an excerpt from my dash installation tutorial.

Use a very thin and flexible item like a plastic knife to very gently pry the piece away. There are removal tools available, but you do not need them. Do not attempt in cold weather or with a metal knife.

Work slowly until you get the horseshoe out enough to pry it with your fingers.

The switches press fit in from the backside of the panel.

It is easier than it sounds. Just go slowly and gently.

Looks like "Blue2000S" has the older style trim surround. I assume the 01+ horseshoe style still just snaps out in the same fashion?

Just wanted to make sure there's no screws securing it. I can go slowly and pry it away if that's the case.

Right, later cars have a one-piece surround.

Of course you can buy them from other companies but, the Snap On one has curved non pointy edges. I also own one from Cornwell and the ends of it are sharp, it caused a bit of damage to a customer car before I wised up and bought the Snap On ones.
