The start of something bad :(
I read people complaining about noises in their suspension ALL the time. Here is a prime example of what causes noises in the suspension! Once a boot is torn on a toe link or a control arm ball joint.. you are asking for trouble. It will get water/dirt/crap inside the boot and wear the ball joint/tie rod end QUICKLY and cause noises and erratic handling behavior as the ball sockets start to wear.
PLEASE. Take 10min and INSPECT all the toe links and ball joints in the control arms. I'm amazed at what I have been seeing on 60K mi cars and up :( (see pics) http://www.boxsterspec.com/brad/suspension/022.jpg http://www.boxsterspec.com/brad/suspension/023.jpg B |
Good point. Thanks for those nice big arrows Brad---a lot of us might still be looking for the problem without them. :D :D :D
Seems like I read quite awhile ago (on this forum) that you can coat those boots with something that will help protect them and at least slow down their eventual degradation and failure. Anybody else remember that? Snake oil or not? |
