Grrr. 3rd Control Arm!
 

I am thoroughly disgusted. My front left (driver's side) lower control arm is creaking again... it's the THIRD FRIGGIN' ONE I've put on that corner!

The alignment specs are dead on.

I hear that boxster spec racing guys go through them like tires but I hardly put any miles on my car and I don't drive it all that hard.

Any idea what's causing this corner of the car to wear out control arms with 18 month regularity?

That's strange.... my 01 doesn't have that many miles on it given its age (59k miles), but I've yet to replace any suspension components. Don't know what's causing your issue, but hope you figure it out.

Is it creaking at the point that it attaches to the spindle/hub assembly, or is it creaking where it attaches to the frame of the car?

You might want to concentrate on the exact location of the creak this time.
If its at the spindle/hub, there might actually be something wrong with that part, which is what is wearing out your control arm, and causing the creaking.

IIRC, you have mentioned that your car was bashed hard into a curb by a previous owner, correct? Maybe that hub needs to get replaced, too.
