alrite, give me some tips and whatnots bout trip to europe :)
 

me and a buddy are going for 17 days to europe
landing in Switzerland (Zurich) where my cousin is and were staying there 2 days or so to check out the street parade (1st time it was amazing, hopefully it will be great this time as well).
then were off to...well anywhere hahaha
i know we wanna hit up the N-ring and try and get a ride in the ring-taxi or rent out bikes or a car and beat on there...
we would also like to go check out the new Porsche museum as well...

anyone have any other things to go check out that 2 guys w 2 huge backpacks would liek to see?
were planning to hit up few cities in germany, amsterdam, london (hopefully see a football game there of some sort wince the premier league will be done by the time were there), paris, monaco, possibly barcelona and madrid, and then rome and milan and back to Zurich. anything in between would be nice as well as long as theres something cool to chek out....

any tips?
were leaving on the 6th of August :)
jsut the 2 of us and out 80L Gregory packs (those things are ridiculous, but $350 at first sounded ludacris untill i put it on and figured i would only be buying a bag like this once and i like my back hehehe)

From Zurich, I think you should consider a day trip via train up to Davos. Check ahead of time to see if the trams are running out of Davos to the tops of the mountains (they close at some point in the summer for maintenance).

I have plenty of info on Madrid & Barcelona - spent time there & loved both cities.

Unless you have piles of cash you want to burn, skip Monaco. The place is uberexpensive and other than the F1 circus, doesn't have much going for it. Lots of drop dead gorgeous women that won't look at you unless you make seven figures. Amsterdam is a must -- not just for the Bulldog and the "window" shopping, but for the art and history. Take a canal boat ride.
Having lived in Europe for ten years my favorite city is Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Check it out online and see if you agree.
Paris is nice in the summer because most of the Parisiennes have left. I prefer LeMans myself.
Take a one-way Rhein cruise, then take the train back. It follows the river and you can stop to sample some of the best wine in the world and great food along the way.
Have fun and don't try to see it all in one trip.

Switzerland is an amazing place. You can visit Gstaad, a really beautiful ski town. You can check out the Matterhorn, there's a cool little town at it's base. The driving there is absolutely breathtaking as you're at the top of the mountains.

The Norther part of Italy is also really cool. Florance has incredible architecture and museums, Venice would be more fun with a significant other, but it's still pretty cool to see, the resort lake area just south of Switzerland has great hotels and there's some cool scenery.

17 days won't be enough to see it all.

I just got back from France/Italy in April. Great trip.

Tips:
Plan your basic route but keep flexible if you want to hang out a little longer in one city. Don't bite off more than you can chew. Many travelers try to cover too much ground their first trip and spend most of it in a train/airport. I could easily spend all of August in the Alps. Hang out for a while and get to know the people. We try to do at least 2 nights in each city. Carry less gear than you think you will need and do a laundry stop once or twice. The rail system in Europe rocks. Get the railpass. During August most of Europe is on vacation so get reservations for "must see" sites like the Colosseum.

i dont wanna stick around Switzerland too much, since ive been there many times and also plan to move there in the ear future, so were gonn b there for a day or 2 for the parade and move on.
i also have been to Venice as well

i heard that about Monaco as well :(

Have you considered the Baltics? A dollar goes far and buses will take you all through Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Plus from Estonia it's a short ferry ride to Finland.

as far as baltics, im from there and so is my friend, so we have seen most of those, although a bit younger at the time...

Here's a tip. Europeans really like capitalization at the beginning of each sentence and periods at the ends. They also appreciate using an apostrophe when writing contractions.

Munich and Octoberfest
 

Looks like u will be a little early, but octoberfest in Munich is one of the best experiences EVER.

Germany (bavaria) is great. They are very good to tourists/americanos, unlike Italia.

I took my Boxster over to the Nurburgring last week to watch the ADAC 24hr GT racing

if your coming over this side of the world you have to make the ring a priority!

I'm back at the ring on the 3rd 4th 5th and 6th of August, I can't get enough!

Koblenz is a pretty cool city to stay in when you go to the ring it's about 45 miles from the track and has great bars and restaurants and the old city is right on the Rhine.

I will be in Stuttgart on the 7th 8th and 9th to check out the Porsche museum too!

If your about we could have a beer or two.....or three........etc :cheers:
