Electric Problems

Last fall my brake lights wouldn't work. I took the car to the Porsche shop, they said there was electric problems. $600 later, I was driving away with brake lights that work.

This spring, my battery was dead (forgot to unplug over winter) well I replaced the battery and it now starts fine. Well then I start it one day and my stereo won't power on. I think, ok, i'll just look on my favorite website (here) for which fuse to replace (but didn't get around to it yet) Then a week or two later, my windows won't go back up. And now, a week or two after that, it won't start again. I'm thinking it might not be a fuse now.

I will be calling the service shop today, but was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to test eletrical problems without spending a thousand bucks, and maybe someone would have info on the fuse panel ? :-/

Actually, it sounds like it could be the ignition switch to me.

These are notorious and every Boxster owner is gonna go through a replacement sooner or later. Symptoms are typical of what you're experiencing, no stereo, window issues, light troubles, starting problems, etc.

The switch (generic Mahle ) sells for under $20 and it's an easy swap.

You give me a glimmer of hope, Thanks Lil Bastard! I'm looking into that option right now.

I just freaked and jumped to conclusions, my battery terminals must have come loose :~| You're still my man though Lil Bastard! But I still need my Radio and Windows to work, anyone know where a fuse schematic would be? I couldn't find one in my manual.

It's often the little dumb things, I'd thought you eliminated those possibilities before posting. Glad it all worked out.
