P0430 - CC is out of warranty

I have a 2001 Boxster and my CEL came on the other day and got the ODB Code P0430. Can it be anything other the Catalytic Converter (such as a bad Oxygen Sensor)? When I called the dealer, I was told that since my car was put in service in 9/2000, therefore, CC is out of the 8/80,000 warranty, although I have 75K miles!
Thanks for the help!
Bob

Sometimes P0430 will show up, you clear it and it doesn't come back. Possibly idling in traffic or short trips without enough heat in the cats for them to work properly. Cats are expensive. Clear the code and do some spirited driving. If it returns then it means business. A PST2 can read sensor voltages between the left and right bank to determine if it is bad sensors or a failing cat. Good luck.

@ 75k mi., you are ¾ the way through the normal expected service life of the O² sensors. It is not impossible that their performance has degraded below spec.
