Air pressure in Kuhmos

My new to me 2003 S had Kuhmos installed by the previous owner and I noticed today that they were running 34 lbs air front and rear. Is this appropriate for this tire? If memory serves me correctly, shouldn't the front be run a few pounds lower than the rear?

I have Kumho on my '98. The book says to run 29 front, 36 rear. I run the front at 31-32 and the rears at 36-37. All pressures checked with cold tires.

And FYI, when I stored the car this winter, I took the tires to 50.

I have a 98 w/tip and just put on my 3'rd set of rears and 2'nd set of fronts all Kumhos. I run them as the book says ie;29 front and 36 rear. I got about 15K on the rears and twice that on the fronts and would have gotten a little more if not for alignment problems--never have it done at a tire shop. I run my car pretty aggressively and am happy with the performance both wet and dry. Great tire for the money. Ed

Check the inside the gas door, pressures should be listed there.

Tire pressure is a function of the car, not the tire. As mentioned above, go by the owner's manual. Some like to tweak here and there from that.

I have Kuhmos on my '01 Box and had them at the pressure they said on the tire. The car would get loose on hard cornering. When I asked my good friend and mechanic about this, he said to go with the recommendations on the door of the car. His point was that tires are made to work on a variety of cars but that all cars are different. When I switched air pressure to what was on the door, the car handled so much better in hard cornering.

Hey, I'm 49 and I'm still learning something new everyday. :D

Thanks. I wasnt sure if I should go with the tire recommendations or the car, now I know.

PRESSURES ON THE SIDES OF TIRES ARE MAX PRESSURES FOR THE TIRE NOT THE PRESSURES YOU SHOULD USE!!!! Sorry for yelling but you should not run max pressures. Always run the pressures form the owner's manual. If you have special circumstances adjust them from owner's manual recommendations. But always start with the owner's manual recommendations and go from there.
