Powdercoated exhaust tips
Has anyone done this? I'm thinking of powdercoating my tips flat black - or ceramic coat flat black if one of the local shops does it.
Update: Done. I like it. Looks different.

I don't think it would stand up to the heat.
A flat black hi-temp engine paint might be the way to go.

The ceramic coating will work, I've seen it in headers.

Yeah, that's why I was thinking ceramic. If it'll stay on a header, the exhaust tips shouldn't be a problem.

I had the stainless steel headers on my MX-5 (Miata in your language) ceramic coated to reduce underbonnet temps. Worked very well, reduced heat by 50% and lasted years.

I had gloss black tips grafted onto my Dansk "sausage" sport muffler. I'm told they were powder coated but I'm not sure. Anyway, they have been on for about 5K miles so far with no problem.

This guy has done tons of ceramic coatings on Porsches - the only way to go but the piece has to be metal:

The coating and coverage looks great. But, it is not real "black". What color is that? Is that the color you were going for? How much $.

The color is "flat black" - but it is definitely more of a very dark gray, which complements the seal gray nicely IMO.
I paid just $25 for the media blasting and coating from San Diego Powdercoating.
Incidentally, I did some informal testing to see if the tips get too hot for powdercoat (400+ degrees) and require ceramic - I drove for 20 minutes and then got out and touched the exhaust tip. Hot, but no blisters, so I went with powdercoat.

My powder coating guy did not recommend high heat. Of course that was for gas burners on wife's cooktop.
