Is there a special tool to remove Alternator?
 
Hello,


Wondering if anyone can help me I have 1997 porsche boxster and need to replace the alternator . I already ordered it but need to know if I need this special tool that is on ebay to remove as well as install the alternator?.... This the link if you could be so Kind to tell me if I need it or not .

no special tools are needed.

i would however recommend a (24" or 22" can't remember) shallow socket for the pulley.

State is correct, no special tools are needed.

The special tools are only needed if you need to swap pulleys. eg from a fixed pulley (base) to a clutch pulley (S).

FWIW, pay attention to the way the wires route in the back. You don't want to mix em up. Also, if you route them differently, you'll be fighting the cable as you swing the alt back into place.
