Stugart Vs. Finland
Is there a difference in reliability from the boxsters built in Stugart and the ones built in Finland?

Innate personality aside, I have never heard that there is much difference between the Stuttgart and Finland-produced cars. The drive trains all come from Germany, so it's mostly a matter of assembly and finish.

Is the Finnish finish better than the German finish?

Which reminds me of the story about the two Finlanders, Kimi and Mika, applying for work at the Porsche plant in Uusikaupunki. They got an interview for jobs hauling the completed cars from the factory to the port for shipment overseas. The boss was asking them questions, and he says to Kimi,
"Kimi, pretend that you're driving the truck in the mountains and Mika is asleep in the back. You're going downhill, when all of a sudden your brakes go out. What do you do?" Kimi says, "Well, da first ting I'd do is wake up Mika." "Why's that?", asked the boss. "Because he's never seen an accident before!" |

The finnish built ones supposedly have better paint finish. This is due to the higher environmental requirements in the paint shop in Scandanavia compared to Germany. I can't see it being much of a difference if anything in recent years. Maybe on earlier cars it was noticeable. All skin panels are pressed by BMW anyway and shipped to either factory. |
