Painted roll bar
 

I am buying a used 2001 S which is pretty much loaded. However, the rollbar is black. Has anyone ever removed the rollbar and had it painted. And if so, was it difficult to remove ?

I'm planning to do the same thing to my '00 S. I read somewhere in here before that someone was able to remove and paint the roll bar but for some reason, I cannot search for that post again. If anyone knows about the post I'm referring to, please let me know. Thanks!

Digging up a really old thread here, but my roll-bar is really scratched up and I need to get it powder coated.

Today, with a friend's help, I got as far as removing trim and carpeting, unscrewing the front "legs", and undoing the two nuts (per side) of the soft-top mechanism.

I'm stuck now and can't get to the back "legs". They just disappear into an abyss. First thing in the way is the waterproof lining that's under the clamshell. Do I have to remove this and risk damaging the drains? Can it just be moved to the side? What's after that? There's talk about some sponge-like material in these instructions: fitted some 285's to the rear of the S - Page 2 - Rennlist Discussion Forums

If I get through this successfully, I'll try to document the reinstall.

Bump. Please help. I'll have just this weekend with the car to disassemble this and get it off to be painted.

Just pull aside the trip tray, pull out the small plug of foam to expose the rear legs 2 nuts.
U will have to remove the soft top from the car to get roll bar out.
Seat belts disconnect from car and bar too.

Okay, so it's a piece of foam that is just pushed in there. That's good. Does it pull straight out? Will a 6" extension reach the nuts?
Really? What else do I need to unfasten to remove the soft top?

6" might, I think I used two in a row.
just wiggle it out around the bar, it's a comma shape.

do some reaserch about top removal. Def need two men to lift clear of paint work safely.

soft top is bolted to roll bar directly. and system to motors...
