LED tail light bulb problem

I decided to replace my rear tail lights and break lights(not 3rd break light) with some LED bulbs.
Problem is, when I insert them they do not go on, but for some reason if I put them in the "reverse" light bulb socket, they light up just fine.
Is the power output different for the break/tail lights compared to the reverse light? Is there a way to get these LED bulbs to work?

LED's only work in one direction..... from electroincs class 20 years ago.
So flipping them in the socket should make it work.

Did not work, I changed the polarity and same thing with two different packages.
Anything else I can try?
