New '08 Boxster

Well, I'm doing my part to help stimulate the economy. I picked up a new Boxster on Saturday. (Black, black, Xenon, Heated/Power Seats, 18" S wheels, Wind deflector, Sound Plus).

I really wasn't in the market for a new car but it seemed like it was just too good a deal to turn down. The sticker price was $53K, invoice was $46, and I ended up paying $39K plus the dealer gave me top dollar on my trade. They hadn't sold a Porsche in over a month and the Boxster had been in inventory for over 4 months so I think they really wanted to move it.

I'm looking forward to getting it out on the road once the weather breaks.

Congrats on the new car! That was a very good deal.

You better watch out for cops in the neighborhood. They may arrest you for stealing! Great deal.

Welcome to the club.

Thanks. It's nice to be back. It's not very often that you feel like you have the upper hand in a negotiation with a Porsche dealer but these are extraordinary times. I think I got a reasonably good deal under the circumstances. Love your Limited Edition by the way.

Excellent deal and great car. I considered it also only briefly on Thursday when I was at my Porsche dealer and three 2008 Cayman S's were sitting there, guards red, and the price was going lower and lower...:-)

What part of the country are you in?

I live in Michigan...located right in the eye of the economic storm which also helps to explain the aggressive pricing.

Nice car and nice deal, makes me want to run down to my local dealership and see what I can do. One thing I love about black is the 100% shine you get. Just like a mirror, as a matter of fact we can see you in the reflection...you should have waved.

P.S. 'Bout time they painted the bumperettes to match the car.

Got a question about the Hog next to the P. Does that CVO Dyna SE have the 110? I love the shorty's, my nephew has a set on his Fat Boy. I've got Samson true duals on my FLHTC w/a DynoJet kit that I have fattened up, allot.

I think I'd have to go to school to learn harley-speak. I didn't understand one word of this ... but I'm sure sierramadre does and that's what counts.

Sorry about that, I'll translate;

Got a question about the Harley-Davidson next to the Porsche. Does that Custom Vehicle Operations Dyna Super Glide Screaming Eagle have the 110 cubic inch motor? I love the (Vance & Hines?) Shorty exhaust pipes, my nephew has a set on his Fat Boy (another Harley model). I've got a set of Samson true duals (instead of two into one) exhaust pipes on my Electra Glide Classic (touring model made by Harley) with a DynoJet kit (a carburetor rejetting kit that enriches the fuel when the intake and exhaust are allowed to breath easier) that I have fattened up (larger jetting), allot.

God, I love acronyms.

That is very funny and I submit that a Harley guy may have trouble interpreting Porsche-speak as well. Thankfully, I'm bilingual although that combination certainly takes its toll on your wallet.

The bike does have the 110 inch motor. I like the way the short shot exhaust look and sound even though you sacrifice a little performance.

I have to admit I didn't know how expensive it was to be bi-lingual myself. But DAMN, it sure is fun!!

congrats on a great deal and a great car...

if you do anything at all to it....just at least change out those front orange reflectors to clear ones... very inexpensive and you could do it yourself...

$39k?? wow. I guess they're hoping they'll get some $$$ back from you when they raise the price of oil changes to $400 and convince you that you should change your oil every 3k miles or 3 months, whichever comes first?

It is most definitely a buyer's market for Porsches and a great time to buy one if you've got the resources.

-nice buy. great color.

I haven't been to the dealer to check prices lately. Last time I was there they had a RS60 Spyder for 62k and no mark up. I didn't look at the other Boxsters. But if the prices are that good where you live it's worth a trip to fly there to buy one and ship it back.
