I had a noise that seemed to be coming from behind the radio. Got louder when turning. I replaced both front wheel bearings and the car is as quiet as can be- at least at the front.
I took the wheel hubs off myself and took them to a Porsche shop to have them press in the new bearings. All 8 bolts holding that retaining ring broke off. Five+ hours of labor to Time-sert them ($$$). Then a caliper bolt hole stripped as I was putting everything back together. They must have felt sorry for me since they did that one for free.
They said they do those caliper bolt holes all the time. They even had a little jig made to hold the drill bit in the correct position.
