Auto-dimming mirror...
I wrote a rant about the Box's lack of decent interior lighting compared to a lowly VW Golf at 1/3 the cost, but also a rave about this mirror feature that the prior owner spec'd for my car. The post got lost in the changeover, but there's new info..
Mine cost $600.* (half way down the "We Have No Shame" list) option including the outside driver's and interior mirror. LOVE IT. I was not looking forward to all the 4WD pickups in my area getting behind me, but this attenuates their lumens so I am more comfortable in the cockpit. A recent issue of AUTOWEEK had a an ad that caught my eye from these people... http://www.mitocorp.com/html/nightvisionsaftey_autodimmingmirrors.htm As you'll see. You can have the major feature for a helluva lot less. Jim *including the rain sensor - another cool feature I was expecting to poo-poo. |
I'd love one. Unfortunately when you go a little further on checking about the mounting brackets on their site, they state:
"*CANNOT REPLACE FACTORY MIRROR ON: HYUNDAI, PORSCHE, BMW, ACURA" Which I presume means that you'd need to make/modify your own bracket... and it must not be easy or they'd be offering one themselves? |
Donv: Go to your local autoglass place; they have to replace mirrors all the time, but ...maybe they do not provide a 'stalk': only the head, eh? Buggers.
BTW: It's $79 in the ad; $99. on the site?! Jim |
