Speedster humps are they a worthwhile addition?

How do you guys feel about speedster humps on the Boxster,
has anyone bought them and then hardly used them?I do like the look of them but wonder in the real world how often they actually come out of storage and are fitted.

Thanks for your views in advance.

I personally don't like the way they look. I assume they have to come off to put the top up and down too.

I think they make the car look "bulky" in the wrong spot...kind of top heavy. But to each their own; if you like the look, go for it.

Like Jmatta said, "to each their own". I personally would not install 'em if I had had a set. In the event of a quick rain or stopping somewhere to go shopping and having to leave the top down or remove them and then raise the top all in the name of looks, I'll pass IMHO. And you know what they say about opinions. :D

P.S. I also wouldn't want to be mistaken for a Pontiac Solstice. :barf:

Another "to each their own" response. I never liked the body kit ad-ons period, I even passed on a couple of 911's and Boxsters when I was looking because they had them (factory aero kits). The only car I thought looked great with the humps was the '62 Thunderbird.

My car came with them and I loved the look, really alters the lines of the car. But as previously stated, they have to come off to put the top up. Might be okay if you lived in So Cal or FL and it was always warm and wasn't going to rain. I ended up selling them.

I've got some humps... I can't say they're the best mod, but I got them cheap, so what the heck. I only put them on when I'm going out for a drive, want the car to look its best, and know I'll have the top down. I think it does add to the look of my car, but then again I've got a full body kit and some more crazy stuff on my car, so it kind of fits.

One thing I found interesting about the humps is that they do stand out to people. I was parked next to a stock Boxster outside of a store and the other owner came out. Did he comment on my side skirts, muffler, rear bumper, wheels? Nope, the thing he commented on that stood out to him the most were the humps. :p

I think you have to look at the overall goals you have for your car, what you want it to look like in the end, and given this perspective decide for yourself if the humps fit with your plans.

As stated by others, "to each his own". Personally I don't like them. I like the original lines of the Boxster. That's the reason I bought one.

I actually owned a Solstice before I bought the Boxster. And though I liked them on the Solstice, they look like an after thought on the Boxster. As a matter of fact, over on the Solstice Forum, many owners thought Porsche was trying in imitate the Solstice. Believe me , having owned both vehicles, the Boxster does not need to do that. It's head and shoulder above the Solstice. ;)

Hey Kirk,

After reading your post this song kept ringing in my ear;

What you gon' do with all that junk?
All that junk inside that trunk?
I'ma get, get, get, get, you drunk,
Get you love drunk off my humps.
What you gon' do with all that ass?
All that ass inside them jeans?
I'm a make, make, make, make you scream
Make you scream, make you scream.
Cos of my humps (ha), my humps, my humps, my humps (what).
My humps, my humps, my humps (ha), my lovely Boxster humps (Check 'em out)

It's one of the least ordered options for the car if that gives you any idea.

I think it's second to the bottom of the list. Second only to the Tonneau Cover.

Car already looks good with the top down.

Unless you have a bodykit and want to complete the look.

The only car that it looks good on is that fellow (RedWing??) with a red one with the Caracter (sp?) front bumper.
