key stuck in drivers door

Here's a new one.... I had my key stuck in the drivers door. I have only one key and the remote does not work, so I use the door to lock the car. I used the key to lock the door, turned it to 3 o'clock position, heard the door lock and went to turn the key back to 12 and the key wouldn't return. It would wiggle from 2 to 4 o'clock.

After a look by a lock smith and a tow to the dealer, it was determined that the door lock mech was 'bad'. Of course the dealer never saw this before. Qualty Porsche engineering. It only took 7 days to get the new lock/door mech from Porsche.

So never lock your car... and park so that it is accessable to be towed.

Other lesson to be learned is: GO GET A SECOND KEY WITH REMOTE PROGRAMMED!

Yes, you will have to pay for it, but in the long run, you will save yourself the money and aggravation of getting stuck in this type of situation.

I agree.... but I never expected the internal part of the door lock to break... from just locking or unlocking?
Every car I have owned built in the 70's, 80's and 90's used a key to lock and unlock it... never had this type of issue.

This is something that should never fail for the entire life of the car. Its just plain shoddy engineering from Porsche.

And the remote entry key only costs $300.

I can't imagine having such a beautiful automobile and not wanting to have everything working properly. I think that you will find that the $300 was well worth the peace of mind.
