Wheel / Tire Monitor Question

I am considering changing my wheels/tires and have found a set of different OEM wheels and tires for my '08 987S, minus the tire pressure monitors. I'm not sure if the wheels are from '05 or '06... so my question is: are '05 OEM wheels without tire pressure monitors able to have my existing tire pressure monitors installed. I was hoping that a tire shop could remove the tire pressure monitors on my existing tires/wheels and install them on the replacement set.

For what it's worth, I bought an '07 Base Boxster,(19" aftermarket wheels) and noticed the tire pressure logo was on. The local dealer informed me that the normal lifespan for the units are about 5 - 7 years. Replacing all 4 at the dealer will be about $900.00.
