Storing the Boxster
 

I posted this question last weekend, but it was lost: I want to cover my Porsche while it's stored in the garage. I live the mid-atlantic region where the temps can get into the teens in the winter. Any suggestions on a good car cover?

The OEM Porsche one. Tripple layered.

Whatever you do, get one that is machine washable. I've had a "Noah" fabric cover for several years now which has done a great job of protecting the car during storage, but it is not washable (of course, not clearly stated before I ordered it). Where I use mine indoors, it is not a major issue, I just vacuum it periodically. However, I would have liked to be able to take it to the laundromat periodically for a spin in the big machines to keep it pristine.

Re: the Noah, you can wash the cover when it is on the car. Pick a sunny day and wash as you would your car. If you have a pressure washer that works even better.

Of course, once it dries, you have to wash your Box but still, it will get the cover nice and clean!

Noah is a great cover BTW. If you car is stored inside, a very soft cover designed for inside is recommended.

Thanks for the cleaning tip - I presume the issue with the Noah is then more about the machine action damaging the cover than something to do with the soapy water, etc. Of course it makes sense that the cover could withstand the water itself, considering that it it is designed for that!

Yeah, I would have just gone for a cotton felt cover for inside, but I started with the idea that I'd use the cover also when on trips or in the lot at work. Somehow I got cured of that idea pretty quickly... :)
