I,m getting ready to pull the battery out of 2003 boxster for winter storage. Trying to find the radio code, but heard there is NOT one for the 2003 models- Is this true???
Thanks

There is no code required for 2003 and later cars.

But, if you want to be safe, and for others with older MY cars, the Porsche (Becker) radio codes are linked to the last 4 digits of the unit's serial #.

To get the serial number for Becker CR-220/CDR-220 - Turn the radio on and hold down the 'TP' button for at least 10 seconds. The display will read - "Becker 1".

Now, slowly turn the right knob and it will display the Becker model # .

Rotate it one more time, and the serial # will be displayed on the radio (If the radio is out of the car, then the serial # is printed on the attached label).

I have the decoder program for these radios, and will provide the codes gratis (see disclaimer below).

If you PM me with the last 4 digits of the serial #, I can PM you the code. It is 100% accurate, but only 95% accurate on the 1st attempt (there's a way to tweak it if the 1st code fails).

DISCLAIMER: To be certain that I'm not 'aiding and abetting' anyone untoward, I will ONLY provide this via PM to registered members with a minimum of 25 posts - NO EXCEPTIONS!! - SO DON'T EVEN ASK

No not at all! Not worried about that one lick.

I only want to provide assistance to the rightful owner, not help some crook profit from stealing it.

That also applies to your car - if someone steals your radio, though they may well get the code somewhere else, they're not gonna get it from me.

There is also an epic thread over on renntech where Loren is essentially providing the same information (Lost Radio Code - post your request here).
It is very generous of you LB to help provide this info to use here on the 986 forum. I am predicting your PM box will be very full for a while! And one of those PM's will be from me.

Is what the same? That the radio does not require a code? Yes, the CDR24 uses the MOST Bus and while there is a code, it is not asked for, nor can it be set by the user.

This requires the PST2 or PIWIS Testers which pretty much only the dealer has. If you disconnect the battery, you won't be asked for a code once you reconnect it.

Well thanks, glad to help if I can. Maybe if Bruce is reading this, he'll put it up as a sticky so this doesn't get lost in the archives.

I have to be honest with you Lil, if someone stole my radio neatly I'd be a happy man. Other than the way the look integrates with the interior, I'm not at all impressed. The functions sometimes delay inputs all by themselves. Sound is mediocre at best, hopefully they are ultra lightweight, then there would be a silver lining.

Good Points! But, 'neatly' is the operative word here... maybe you should hang a pair of radio keys from your rearview mirror...lol
