Advice on sales price?
Possibly going to sell my ride... '01 boxster base, seal grey & black top/interior... 9.5/10 exterior, 9.5/10 interior... 40,100 miles, still on CPO warranty through porsche, transferrable, through 100k miles or 01/24/2010 whichever comes first (so 15 months or so left)...
stock except 18" cayman wheels, HID's (non-litronics), and maxspeed exhaust... plus softronics tune, includes cable (with 2 more free flashes) & diagnostics software as well... what's a fair price (and are you thinking most likely i'm better off waiting till spring)? |
Nice looking ride. Really tough time to sell a car. It would fetch $16-$17k in SoCal if you could actually find a buyer. No one is buying anything here. It would sell faster in the spring but maybe not for more dough. Good luck.

my "goal" is 20k, which i figure in spring will still have almost a full year warranty through any porsche dealer... something most used boxsters won't have...
texas is a little different in pricing than cali on them, we'll see if i can get there... |
see my thread here: http://www.babblers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=10559

I wouldn't compare anything to KBB. I've found over time that KBB has little to do with reality. Take a look at www.cars.com, www.autotrader.com, and eBay to see what Boxsters are actually selling for in your area. I'm guessing you'll find that you can get a Boxster S for about $20K. So I think that's a bit high for a base model. The longer you wait, the more the car will depreciate, so I wouldn't wait until Spring for the economy to get better (it won't by then) or for some better deal just because it would be getting warmer. Either way it's just a bad time to sell, especially for exotic and semi-exotic cars right now. I think you're looking at $16K at best or just wait it out if you're not in a hurry and see if you can get the $20K with time and the right buyer.

Here is a similar car in your area for comparison. Jeph also from 986forum.

Just curious, why are you considering selling?
Its an akward time to be selling a car. You might find that there aren't a lot of buyers out there right now. |
