CV Boot Repair Parts
I'm planning to replace the CV boots on my 2002 Boxster S. The passenger side has 1 boot clearly torn, and with 61,000 miles, I'm sure the driver side isn't far behind.
After doing some research on parts, it appears that eBay has the best price. I can replace all 4 boots for $63.05 including shipping if I purchase this kit.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there anything I should know that would cause me to stay away from this?

I have no experience with those particular boots, but you can get a GKN boot kit from Rockauto.com for $9.45 each. That's the brand my indie shop sourced for me when I did mine.
Search for my step-by-step writeup on how to do this repair, if you haven't already. Good Luck!

Thanks! I will definitely check that out. I saw the GKN kits on eBay as well. Even though they are selling 2 kits per purchase with free shipping, it still comes out to roughly double the cost of the other ones I linked to. I just wanted to make sure that this isn't one of those instances where you definitely want to stick with OEM.
Thanks again for the Rockauto tip. I will be checking out your writeup as well!

$45.10 shipped from RockAuto! And, GKN is the OEM manufacturer, right?

I don't know the answer to that, maybe someone else does. The GKN kits I used had the boot, both bands, the flat metal CV end cover, and a package of grease, just like the picture shows on rockauto. The stuff looked and fit just like OEM, except for the rip in the OEM stuff.

That's good to know! I just assumed that the GKN parts were OEM since the eBay listing with the GKN kits states "New Original Equipment Manufacture Parts. Not a reproduction or aftermarket", and the brand on the eBay listing is listed as "Loebro/GKN".
The only thing that concerns me about the RockAuto kit is that the CV end cover shown in the picture looks different from the pictures I've seen of the OEM part and the pictures on the eBay listings.
Maybe RockAuto just used a generic picture of the kit not specific to the Boxster. Can you confirm what your GKN CV end cover looked like?

All is good. I just received my package from RockAuto with the GKN kits, and everything included appears to be OEM.
For those who find this thread in the future, disregard the picture shown on the RockAuto website. It's just a generic picture for these kits and not specific to the Boxster kits you will receive.
I ended up paying $42.93 for 4 kits, and the turnaround time to receive them was only 2 days!

The kits came in "Löbro" boxes with "made in Germany" stickers. Is this the same as Loebro? There is also a sticker on each of the boxes for "GKN" as the supplier.

Ah, so GKN = Loebro... that's good to know. It looks like they change the spelling from Löbro to Loebro when not using the umlaut.
Thanks for the info!
