Timing Belt or Chain

Hi All,

This is my very first post. I have just bought a Boxster 2.7 year 2000. It has a full Porsche history and is immaculate. I am picking it up at the end of next week after it being given a full service and the rear plastic screen replaced (the only fault I could find on the car).

I just wondered, do these engines have a timing belt or a timing chain. If its a belt, what is the replacement interval and is it something you can do yourself (I have always worked on my own cars in the past).

Many thanks in advanced.

chains to drive the cams, and multi rib belt to drive the accessories, ie ps, alt, ac etc
