Key remote stops working?

The remote in my key seems to have failed to a certain degree. I put in a new battery last March when I first got the car. The rear trunk opener still works fine, but the door locks will not lock/unlock. In watching the receiver on the dash, I see it receive the signal from the trunk opener, but nothing seems to be received from the locks.

Could the door lock button itself be going bad? The light on the key is lighting up, I just don't see the corresponding light on the dash flicker as it does when I pop the trunk.

Anyone else seen this issue?

Thanks!

I had this kind of problem, including need ing to get closer and closer, until the dash recieving unit went bad and was replaced under warranty. If you still have a warranty, I'd take it to the dealer.

Slim chance but if you do not use the remote for a certain number of days you have to unlock the car from the door lock, then it is reactivated.

This is a daily driver so the remote gets used on a daily basis. As for having to get closer and closer, that is exactly what my wife does. She has found that she can hold the key above the windshield just by the receiver and it will work... I don't seem to have that magic touch. If it was the receiver, wouldn't that also affect the trunk latch?

In my case (2002 S), the rear trunk worked better than the front and the front worked better than the doors as it was starting to fail. It kinda defies reason, but that was my experience with the failure of the reciever unit. The 'fix' has been working for several months now.
