Im after some info!

Hello Boxster Owners!

I don't have a Boxster I actually drive a Ford Focus RS, but I would like to ask you a question and if you can help it would be great!

Im after new tyres and have a certain tyre in mind, I understand that the Boxster "S" came with Yokohama AVS tyres like the pic below as standard so I thought Boxster owners would be the best people to ask.

So I would like to know is what you think of this tyre?

Is it good in the wet and dry?

Is it noisey?

Does it wear out quickly?

Any comments will be greatfully received,

Thanks for your time,

Ben

My Boxster came with Continentals and Michelins are also std from the factory. I could be wrong but I don't think US Boxsters come with Yokohamas.

Have you checked tirerack.com? They have reviews on tons of tires and you can compare it to competitor's tires.

Nope. Not a stock Boxster tire that I know of. Here is the Tirerack survey of similar max performance tires:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=MP

The Yoko AVS is ranked 12th. A mid-pack tire. Not bad...not so great. If best bang for the buck is important to you look at the podium finishers (top 3 rated). Most Boxsters are probably running one of the top five street tires listed here. My personal choice is the Michelin PS2 but I may explore another choice next time. Good luck.

One more vote for using TireRack for research for your needs and your cars.

Seems like the latest test from TireRack shows the new PZeros is just as good as the PS2.

I might have to try them next spring as my shop gets lots of Pirellis.

thanks for the replies. :)

it must just be in the UK that the AVS was fitted to the boxster. :(

I had seen tirerack before, the other tyre I am looking at is Yokohama Advan Sport which ranks pretty high.

I got Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics for my Boxster. They are amazing in the wet and dry. I'm very happy with them. I can't tell you about how long they'll last though. I got them because a few magazines I saw rated them slightly higher than the Michelin Sport Pilot PS/2s.
