Boxster Bike Rack

I am trying to figure out which bike rack/transport system to go with. I found these 4:

http://www.birdautomotive.com/Bike%20Rack%20Boxster.htm

http://www.willwoodsystem.com/

http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/roadtrunracc.html

Has anyone used any of these?

I am have also seen the RTS (Roof Transport System) from Porsche, but I want to have the option of opening or closing the top (and when the RTS is on, you can't)

I am also interested in creative ways people carry their surf boards. My 6'3" barey fits inside my car with the top up, and I can only carry my longer boards with the top down.

Thanks

I would suspect you would be better off with the bird automotive or Wilwood system, than the bike on the rear trunk system in your 3rd link.

One of the problems of the roof transport system, besides having to choose top up or top down before installation, is that the wind noise is a LOT LOUDER than you would expect. Top down, anything over about 30MPH is too loud for conversation. As an RTS owner, I consider the RTS ok for the occaisonal desk, lumber, or mattress transport, but a poor choice for regular bike use.

If one problem with bike on the rear trunk is noise, then others would be: increased risk of scratching car, lifting higher, inability to easily open rear trunk, and wind resistance/airflow disruption in the wrong place.

Several folks are happy with the Willwood system, though the hitch takes some fiddling to get installed right the first time. If you ever plan on using a track trailer, it is an obvious choice.

I have no experience with the BirdAutomotive rack - but it looks like a good, basic bike rack.
