Making the switch

When do you guys who drive your Boxster in the winter switch over to winter tires? Do you do it on a date, or when the temperature starts getting consistantly below a certain temp, or what?

Last year I did it when my tires arrived, which was after it had started snowing. This year I am watching the weather and I will probably put mine on in the next two weeks, before it snows. It has been 30° in the morning, and 60° in the afternoon, so I am still waiting. I will most likely do it this weekend, but I don't have a set date.

i usually hold out as long as possible....i call it the lazy stategy...

I usually get caught on the first snow, or change it them when they call for the first snowfall

Summer tires lose significant amount of traction when temp drops below 45F degrees.

Got my shop to install them last week before the stupid rush right after the first snowfall.

Well, it's snowing here today (NW of Chicago). Maybe I'll throw them on.
