You Tube Boxster Engine Rebuild

For those of you that would like to know how your engines are put together (and this might make you think twice about revving the piss out of, and abusing your power plants). I did some research for a forum member with a spark plug tube leaking problem and ran across this.

You Tube has a great mini series of 15, 5-10 minute, clips on the rebuilding of a Boxster S engine! Its nothing like the VW or V-8 engines I've rebuilt. If you go to You Tube and type in the search "Porsche Boxster S Engine Rebuild" you'll be very entertained. It was an eye opening experiance for me to say the least. Those of you that have rebuilt engines, watch how you install the wrist pins and keepers. ;)

For those of you that always wanted to know what the IMS (intermediate shaft) was and where its located and why if it failed you engine turns into a boat anchor, watch the videos. :D

Wow, the internals look very complex. Is this what the inside of most modern engines look like or are our engines just that much more complex?

Compared to the majority of push rod and overhead cam engines this is an Erector Set in a Lego world.

The guy who did the rebuild didn't seem to worry much about high revs.

Great series, thanks for sharing, quite a complex motor.
