Engine stutttering problem but no CEL
Over the past couple of weeks I've noticed that during the climb from around 2200RMP to 2800RPM (always exact same RPM) in second gear the engine has a slight lag or stutter. However, no CEL has come on. So far it is very subtle but noticeable to me. I'm guessing that it is the MAF and/or O2 sensors. I took apart the MAF when I purchased it and gave it a little clean with some of the CRC cleaner (maybe I am the cause?). Should I just reclean or replace the MAF and O2 sensors or should I have it diagnosed, if even possible

Not a common problem?

I guess you could check the coil packs but i would have expected to see a cel light to atleast flash.

I'd suggest checking and cleaning the MAF again. This time, with something specifically made for it. Check your filter, too. A clogged filter might hinder responsiveness.

I wouldn't doubt you MAF is bad. There goes $250 and 10 minutes worth of work. My 99' did the same thing when the MAF was bad.
You want the one with the e-accelerator. http://www.************************************************************/search/product.aspx?sid=v4ezkr555sbjik3t2tum5d3a&makeid=8 00019@Porsche&modelid=1388358@BOXSTER%20S&year=200 1&cid=22@Fuel%20%26%20Air%20System&gid=5068@Air%20 Mass%20Sensor Don't try cleaning it,I swear it only makes it worse. Why did you clean it in the first place? |

How do I know which MAF I need for my '98 Boxster?
How do I know if my car is "with M620 E-Acceleraor" or "without M620 E-Acceleraor?" I am not sure with one I need for my base '98 Boxster 2.5. Also, is there a special tool needed to pull the MAF? I have star wrenches, but it appears to need some sort of hollow star wrench to pull it. Any ideas about where I can find the wrench?
