Putting on some Carbon Fiber garnish
 

I wanted some new wheels, but they are mighty expensive and you don't get a lot for your money. I figured out that with the same amount of money I spend on just getting new rims, I could rather have a bunch of carbon fiber parts (I looked at rear view mirror caps, air intake, rear strut brace, and door sills) also with aluminum pedals, and have some money left over.

The question is, with carbon fiber look good with a blue car? Anybody have a picture of a dark colored car with some carbon fiber parts on it (it has to be black carbon fiber, not painted).

Also, I noticed that the rear strut brace on the car is missing. I'm not too worried about handling or having a stiff feel to the car right now, but what other purpose does that brace provide?

Your missing the rear strut brace? It was never factory installed, it's an aftermarketr piece. So it can't be missing, it was just never installed.

From your parts list, seems you want to add Carbon look pieces to the exterior. It should look fine. I've seen other dark colored cars (ie...Black) with Carbon and it blends in fine. As long as the Dbl weave fabric is layed properly, and with help from some sunlight, you'll be able to achieve the look you're after.

Ah I did not know the strut brace was an aftermarket piece, you can see the whole engine from the underside of the car and I thought there would be a flat underbody or at least something there to keep the engine inside.

And yes, you are right, I just want to add to the cosmetic look. Honestly the 986 box doesn't give off the sporty feel that the 987, or similar cars in the class tend to give off, so I'm trying to help it along some.

Start with painting your bumperettes to match your car...lots of pics on this board.
Your local body shop or bumperplugs.com for less than $300 you will have a nice fresh look to the rear, at least. My car is black and even if no one else notices, I think my newly painted bumperettes instantly upgraded the '01. ;)

I know it's that itch that you want to do something to refresh the look of the car.

But IMO Carbon Fibre stuff these days is soooo out of style, that unless you have a F430 Scudaeria or something that came with it from the factory it looks really tacky. I'd do the bumperettes as greesedc suggested.

I agree there, Carbon Fiber isn't the best looking stuff around. However it seems that most aftermarket things you can put on are made of Carbon Fiber.

In any case, I'm thinking of getting a Turbo style rear wing, as I don't like the current spoiler which is just a block of plastic.

I might also paint the bumperettes, although I don't see a significant change in how the car will look.

+1 on the rear wing...it updates the car and looks very sporty. I'm always getting asked where I got it. I also don't like the stick on carbon fiber...looks like you went to JC Whitney and ordered all the stuff you'd think would make your car look cool (as a kid would do).
