Gustav

For those of you who may be in his path, I hope you are OK and safe.

So far so good for us in the Baton Rouge area, there are some power outages.
Most of us are well prepared.

Please keep us all in your prayers.

We're in Zachary, LA. Still have power but it went out last night. Good luck to those of you who had to evacuate.

Houston may still get it as it whips around and takes a hard left, but I'm praying hard for those improved levies in New Orleans and everyone in that area of our country... they don't need a repeat of Katrina 3 years later, just as many are back on their feet.

Garage
Here in Oklahoma City we're being told that Gustav will move in by Wednesday we'll be getting up to 8" of rain with localized flooding. Far better than the direct hit the gulf coast took.

Well, it seems that a lot of Baton Rouge is now without power. We drove back from Zachary today (about an hour past BR) and we had no power there and drove past tons of gas stations and businesses that were closed. My parents' house in New Orleans has power, but six blocks away I don't.

LoveBunny, glad to hear you, your family, your Boxster, your shoes and your purses are all going to be OK.

We are getting Gutav's rains today in Chicago.

I sure hope the new storms brewing out in the Atlantic don't mess up our TOD trip next week.

"Gary in BR" sent me a message from his phone. He's been holding up through the storm in his home in Baton Rouge. He said that he and his family (and the cars too) made it through the storm okay. They've got some roof and fence damage though, so they didn't make it totally unscathed. He's without power and internet right now, but says he'll be back on the board soon and with a vengeance.

We stayed here in mandeville, lots of damage 0 real problems. We are running on generator power. Hell, I already cut my lawn! Back to work

The porsche is not allowed on the streets, lots of limbs and branches laying around. WAY South louisiana- namely port fouchon, where 1/3 the nations oil is processed got slammed.

Hopefully a lot more will have power soon. My brother works for Entergy and said their crews are all over trying to get power back up.

I'm back.
As Kirk said a little fence damage and a new roof on the way, thanks State Farm.

We where with out power for 5 days.
Its surreal seeing gas lines and living under a curfew.

Thanks for the prayers.

I'm glad to hear you're okay. I went to the grocery store the other day and there were guys with guns from the National Guard standing inside the store. It was really weird.

The "locals" don't exactly have a great reputation for "restrained" behavior during an emergency!
At least it looks like Ike is going to run across the gulf and hit midway down the Texas Coast. Looks like my old friend in Corpus is gonna be in for a fun weekend!

Glad to hear you're okay Bunny.

Wifey and I were driving the Box back from Birmingham, last weekend, and I was looking for your car amidst all the LA tags on the road! The motel we stayed at Saturday night must have been one of the few that took dogs, as the place was packed with LA dog owners.

When we were on the interstate coming and going out of town we saw sooooo many dogs in cars. I'm glad people were bringing their dogs though. It makes me sick to hear that people evacuate and leave their pets behind.
