new aos defective?

Your opinion, please...

A couple of weeks back I replacd the AOS on my '02 S because I had oil in the intake and the aos was leakng at the bottom hose.

Today, while cleaning the engine bay, something told me to pull the top hose off the new unit. I found it's full of oil. I subsequently inspected the connecting components and there's oil collecting in the air tracts as well.

If these things are supposed to separate oil from air, am I right to conclude my new unit is not operating correctly?

full of oil or has an oil mist in it? If it's 'full' or pooling in the bottom of the J-tube, then yes, you have a problem. If it's just a light misting, it's pretty normal. Take a look at the J-tube where it connects to the throttle body. I'd also clean the TB and the j-tube again and keep a close eye on it.

On the S there's no J-tube but the upper connection definitely has an accumulation of oil (tip it and it will drip)- the same in the throttle body tube.

The upper connection is the 'j' tube.
