HOW TO install a mass airflow sensor/meter
Hey,
I have an 02 boxster non-s and Im having some hesitation problems and no check engine lights, I talked to the people at my porsche dealer and they say it could be the mass airflow sensor and its possiable its not throwng out check engine lights. I have a spare sensor and I was wondering how do i go about changing it. Thanks |
easy install...
I also have an 02, just did this a couple weeks ago. Really not too hard, check out this site, same one i used. be sure you have the torx tool. took me about 30 minutes to get everything apart and get the sensor out. spray it or replace it, snaps back in place- 2 screws.
scroll down to see the details once open on how to remove it. clear info even i was able to follow :) bought the torx at Lowes, and the cleaner at autozone- total investment for me was under 10$. http://mike.focke.googlepages.com/checkenginelightcausedbymassairflowsensor |
It's really pretty simple:
Tools needed: T-20 anti-tamper (hole in the center) bit or driver Removal: 1. Put top in service position, remove top box, carpet and engine cover 2. Locate sensor and pull off electrical connector 3. Remove both T-20 screws 4. Pull old sensor Installation: 1. Fit the new sensor with seal and tighten the screws to 2.0 − 3.0 ftlb (3 − 4 Nm). 2. Plug the electrical connector back in. 3. Replace top box, carpet and engine cover. 4. Replace top from service position. |
Is this:
