Porsche coolant

Guys;

After fixing my coolant tank condensation problem I have to add some coolant. Called my local Porsche and this guy is asking $35.00 for 1/2 gal. (2 liters) of Porsche coolant!!! Is this a normal price? It looks expensive to me a Prestone guy. Is there any other solution?

Tks!

Do a thread search. There are alternatives, but you must be freaky-careful not to put the wrong thing in or it will gel up on you.

My mechanic calls Porsche coolant "liquid gold" for a good reason. They are indeed proud of that stuff, huh?

You don't have to use Porsche coolant, but you have to use the correct substitute, and even then, unless you know what's in there, I would not mix anything together.

Might be time for a complete flush and refill with one of the correct substitutes.

The Porsche coolant is 50% coolant / 50% distilled water so you won't be using the entire bottle. If you have never added coolant I would use the Porsche stuff, unless you know what is in the car already, then use that. MIxing coolants can be very bad, in which case you may want to flush the system.

Thank you all, I will go to dealer and buy the 1/2 gallon of Porsche golden coolant...
