DIY springs & intake update

Well This weekend I took on the task of instaling H&R springs and EVO intake on my 02 S. On my "Pain in the A** Scale" (were 1 is simple) the springs where a 3 and the intake was easily a 10. I'd rather do the springs again instead of the intake. Every aspect of the intake install was hard. You cant get to any of the bolts!! Never ever again.

It looks and sounds nice, so I guess in some way it was worth it. Saved 1800$ by doing it myself.

You must have taken the factory air box out carefully. Mine, I took out in pieces and it was quite simple, as I had no intent on keeping it anyway.

$1,800 - Wow! For installation only?

I had my local independent Porsche specialist do my EVO install for about $150 (and after watching them wrestle with the old airbox, I also told them to just cut it out in pieces). I'm guessing on the price because I bought the intake through them and the whole cost, including installation, was $500.

I had a different local suspension specialist install my entire ROW 030 kit for $600 - that's springs, shocks, sway bars, and alignment. I chose the shop because I heard great things about them on various forums and know they have installed many of these kits - and they run their own GT3 cup cars as well. I would have expected to pay a bit more for their expertise, but it sounds like I either got a good deal or you were quoted very high prices.

Yea 1800 was the cheapest I could find. 1000$ for springs, 600 for intake and 200 for aingment.

Crazy huh!!

Well The springs where a piece of cake, just takes time. I saved a lot of time by looseining the bolts that are on the control arms, That allowed the hub to swing really far down and I did not have to dissasemble much. The fronts came out brakes rotors and struts all in one piece, the rears, the entire hub, brakes and rotor swings out of the way and the strut slides out.

front springs: 1.5 hours each
rear springs: 1 hour each.

Evo intake: 8 hours!!
