Noisy rear right suspension
 

Hello every Porsche's friends

After having read different post concerning noise, in the right rear wheel area, at low speed ,on bad road.....I am surprised that nobody mentionned possibility of brake shoe noise (hand brake,in the disc).......
Is it possible ?
Does anybody encountered this issue,please?

What kind of tires does he have? The Boxster I just bought has cheap Kuhmos on it. They are noisy as hell. I thought the right rear brake was dragging. Shop said, "Nope. Just noisy tires. We don't recommend those tires for these cars."

It is not a tire noise...When I drive at low speed on bad pavement ONLY...I hear like something shaking in the trunk but it is coming from the rear right wheel area!

It's sound like something loose on the brake disc (like some old GM cars does when they hit a hole or a bump...) but I cannot find anything...
I checked the sway bar bushing..ok
Absorber shock,and bearing ok too..I cannot find any loose on the wheel as well
Nothing in the trunk !
I read few posts where they say bad control arm or bad control arm link...I am hoping it's not that !!!!! It's costly.......

I Have the same problem on my 2001 Boxster. From what I can see the issue could be bad CVs, Motor Mounts, or the rear upper control arm. I have looked under the car and tried to identify the problem but I may have to resort to the dealership or reputable mech.

it's your track rod. you can get rebuilt ones from vertex automotive. alternatively, you can buy an aftermarket set from deluboz parts.

There are several components in the suspension that can cause what you describe.
I would start with the easiest to check and most likely part: The sawybar drop link.
The way to test is is to see if there's any play in the joint which wears out with time/miles.
Raise that corner of the car and undo the bottom nut securing the drop link.
Now you can handle it and determine if it';s worn or not.
Worn joints will be very loose and wobbly, whereas new ones will be very tight and hard to move by hand.
The OEM ones are about $100.
If you find that one side is worn, the other side is probably about to go too.

I think the noise on my car was coming from the license plate, 2 loose screws.

So... What you're saying is you have a screw loose? :D

Hi, Update on rear passenger side noises.

My friend installed a car lift at his machine shop and told me I can use it anytime I needed to work on any of my vehicles, so guess what, up goes the Boxster :)

I removed all the plastic panels under the car and did a visual inspection to see if anything was loose and could be the cause for noises, the following is what I discovered.

1- There were 5 broken plastic brackets used for separating, holding and keeping hoses from rattling, solution Tie-raps and foam pads.

2- There is a flimsy plate on the passenger side only about 10 inches above the spark plug coils that is held in place with 1 screw,
I tapped it with a screwdriver and couldn't believe the rattling noise it made, reason was it had bent downwards and was hitting the car chassis, solution was to push it upwards about a 1/2 inch.

3-When hitting the right front tire there was a noise (ex.. metal to metal ) coming from the rack and pinion area, but when I held down on the rod coming out of the pinion Boot no more noise, solution I have no idea, maybe someone here has an idea :confused: .

4- All the protective plastic panels under the car could use some tightening up,
solution I used some self drilling 1/2 long screws and fastened them together where they join and overlap.

For the rest everything was as tight and solid as my honeymoon :p

Oh almost forgot no loose screws :D
