Don't delay... hurry up & bid!

Dr. Kill 07-25-2008 08:58 AM

I kind of like it. I would never spend that kind of money to build one for myself, but I think it looks good.

jmatta 07-25-2008 09:03 AM

He must have read the book "101 Ways to Destroy a 911". And we wonder why the country is in a mortgage lending crisis? This was the type of individuals that originated mortgage loans; more money than brains. Strip the interior and it might make an interesting track car...at least you'll get the other driver's attention.

mylamb 07-25-2008 09:20 AM

I don't see how a paintjob can cost $34K...

I think when you go with bright green (IF you go with bright green) you have to have black interior.

:barf:

EE3racing 07-25-2008 09:27 AM

The tail lights make it look extra cheesy, It's not terrible but if he truly has 200K in it then I can't see the logic.

RandallNeighbour 07-25-2008 09:30 AM

I dunno... I think if I went with that green on the outside, I'd take a little of the puke that just came up and color match it for a new interior in puke color... which would hide the stains for everyone who saw the car and rode in it.

Yup. You're looking at a future track car.

FTD 07-25-2008 09:31 AM

Aw, geeeez, man. That is just sooo not my taste. The body color, the wing, the tri-tone interior in totally different, non-complimenting hues...
If I had 200k I could almost pay off my house. Now THAT would be kewl.
Or paint it in 17 layers of House of Kolor lime time green.
Hmmmmm. That's a thought. :D

kabel 07-25-2008 11:50 AM

I can believe 34k for a complete paint job, looks like it was done right. And if you want to stand out then that color will work. Not really a show car imo as he claims, beyond the paint, the body upgrades and the interior accents it's not show worthy in any category. Too flashy for stock, not modded enough to truly be custom. At the very least it should be lowered, look at the wheel gap!

blue2000s 07-25-2008 12:13 PM

It'll never be mistaken for a GT3 by anyone who knows what they look like.

I actually like it, I'm a little embarrassed to admit.

$34k for a paint job, I can see how it cost that much if they took the car apart and painted under the interior, inside the doors, inside the engine bay, and whatnot, it's basically rebuilding the car. I just don't see doing that on a car that is intended to be driven on a road, as opposed to one that is meant to sit on a trailer and only come out for shows.

FTD 07-25-2008 12:29 PM

I see your point about that color on a track. Especially if the exterior were enhanced with some same hue blue and yellow, and the body had vendor stickers/decals on it. [don't know the right name for that stuff] But the interior has no recovery.

super66 07-25-2008 12:39 PM

I lOVE that green....as for the interior, I've always felt that porsches had ugly interiors period....I was pleasantly surprised by the 987 interior....yet this guy found a way to make the interior even uglier! the fact that it is tan, and that sterring wheel...

again tho, I love the green!

fragdude 07-25-2008 01:50 PM

I like the Green color, but it Def needs a different color interior. And he does say it just has a GT3 body kit that was installed during the painting process. 13 grand on the wheel? is that right? that means each rim costs almost 3 grand?

I'm sorry, but you can buy Dymag forged magneseum centers with Carbon Fiber rims for 9 grand. 13 large for those HREs? Someone is fibbing or someone was seen coming, I'm not sure which is worse....... :barf:

(you notice I remove my siggy pic when I load the barf guy!)
The black is really hard to keep clean!

It's really rediculous. I spend close to an hour cleaning for every hour I spend driving it!
I swore I wouldn't have another black car.........but even my wife (02 Honda Civic) was speechless when she saw this one topless in the showroom.......

9eighty6 07-25-2008 03:21 PM

What ever happened to British Racing Green ... now there's a color I could deal with seeing every day!

What a car ... yiikes ...

gmboxster 07-25-2008 04:53 PM

I just dont like the wing / spoiler on the back. The rest of the car doesnt bother me at all.

jonnycool 07-26-2008 12:29 AM

lol....it's like a pair of mark nason boots, tacky trailer trash but kinda COOL at the same time.......i think.......i....ummm.......... like it?!?!

only in america eh!

jmatta 07-26-2008 01:53 PM

Just think, it could become this...

silver arrow 07-26-2008 04:47 PM

I don't think it's that bad. Better than the gold TT.

Stunin_Stud 07-26-2008 05:22 PM

If I were the Incredible HULK i would be driving this car...and i would be getting very angry hearing this criticism.

thenavarro 07-26-2008 07:28 PM

Wow, I like that color!! Makes my Seal Grey look rather mundane. Not sure about the snakeskin, but I'd love to own that one.

Well THIS looks like the same shade of Viper Green that they use on the 997 GT3RS, which is HOT! It's bright but it ain't CANDY bright! Then again, I am someone who turned down Speed Yellow & Red to wait out Arctic Silver, so I guess I like 'em subtle. Something about that eBay listing makes it look like a giant sour apple Jolly Rancher... with a caramel center... and strips of snake skin... doesn't matter, though, because it will sell for sure.

I recently read that the 612 Scaglietti can be completely customized to your desire, but Luca Di Montezemolo has veto power on anything deemed tasteless. He recently turned down a request for a full croc interior on a 612. Really now... who would order such a thing???

tboyer 07-28-2008 01:55 PM

Interesting pile of BS that someone actually bought because the car was sold to a winning bidder. Where are the photos of the car completely disassembled? Something way fishy on that one, buyer beware.

Blewy, mate, how much insurance did the Crock-Hunter have? :D

Adam 07-28-2008 04:45 PM

The paint looks good. I don't think $34,000 good, but it looks quality. The snake skins on the other hand....

I dunno... a $34k 2004 carrera doesn't sound too bad.

edit: eww, 1999. Didn't realize how old it was. But I'd drive it for $34k. At that price, it better be in good working order. I bet it is, judging by the care taken for all the visible stuff.

Not sure I'd jump to that conclusion. His story about living a life of excess was a red flag for me. If you're lighting cigars with $100 bills, do you think he cares if he redlines his toy or abuses it in other ways? Greenie probably cleans up well, but if it could talk it would probably tell some tales.
