Interested in installing a Stebro Sport Exhaust. What do I need?
I'm interested in installing a Stebro Sport Exhaust but I have a few questions. I was more interested in the PSE mod but in deep South Texas it will be hard to find someone to do the job and/or do it right.
How difficult is the install of a Stebro Sport for my 2002 2.7? I'm definitely no mechanic but basic maintenance and projects are within my ability. Should I have my local indi Porsche guy install it? What parts will I need to purchase and from where do I purchase? How low can I get the Sport version direct from Stebro? Do I just need the exhaust or will headers, etc. be required? Thanks for the help and sorry if I sound a bit lost. I'm looking for a more agressive sound but I'm really not wanting to pay thousands for it and a minimal HP boost. |

Here’s some good information about resonance and the sport exhaust :

Thanks. I read that thread when I searched the topic. I'm not really looking at adding headers, just the Stebro. Should it be a relatively straight forward install after removing the bumper? |
RobZ,
I installed a Stebro Sport system on my 2000 2.7 last year. Here is another thread in case you missed it when you searched earlier. http://www.986forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13391 It is straight forward. If I did it, anyone can. Some do it without removing the bumper cover. I removed mine and didn't have any major problems. You really don't need anything other than the muffler, tools and some sort of penetrant like PB Blaster helps. You should be able to do a search and find some instructions on removing the bumper cover. My recollection is the spoiler assembly was a little tricky to R&R, but I was able to manage so it couldn't be too difficult. ddb |

Also, why does the listing say it is for the S only? EBAY LISTING |
It took days for me to install it because I worked on it a little at a time. I believe I removed the bumper cover one evening, the old muffler the next evening, then installed the Stebro and finally put the bumper cover back on.
I submitted a buy-it-now for $875 and they accepted. I'm not sure about the S designation for that particular muffler. You may have to shoot them an e-mail for clarification. |
Rob,
I believe there are 6 different exhaust systems for the Boxster ( 4 for the S and 2 for the non-S ) : Boxster S Sport including test pipes $2250 Boxster S Racing including test pipes $1750 Boxster Racing $1175 Boxster S Racing $1175 Boxster Sport $1750 Boxster S Sport $1750 http://www.stebro.com/html/Default.aspx?PageMenuID=1282 Hope this helps... I contacted them and was told that the model stated to be for the S will work with the non-s as well. Of course the exhaust sold before I found out.
