Silver handle below door handle
Hi I have a 2001 Yellow S and the silver bar below the door handle is kinda scratchy so I was wondering if anyone knows where to buy these? Also the clib below the Silver Bar is missing exposing the screw, I'm sure this has happened to a few of you guys..?

I don't really know what your talking about, but I don't know the parts to my door handle that well so, thats probably why (a pic may help).
However, this may help you: http://dcauto.gotdns.com/illustration/index/509261621 |
Thanks for the image frag dude but its actually the silver bar that the plastic cover that covers the mini cubby hole sits on top of? Does that help? Right above the silver part theres a clip that covers a screw that I'm missing on both doors.

I presume it's the inside you are talking about... If so, this is the diagram you are looking for:
http://dcauto.gotdns.com/illustration/index/475724103?class=illo_title Clips are part #29. p/n you need are: 986.555.722.01 plus the color code you need 986.555.722.01 plus the color code you need You could just order the black ones (.01C) and paint yourself. Bet you could do as good of a job (or at least 95% as good) and offset the 5% by pocketing $71  difference (less $5-10 for paint). The grab bar, which I think is what you are also asking about is part #26 in the diagram. |
BINGO you rock, the ones i was talking about are 29 and 26, do you guys have black ones? I have silver and 26 is all scratched up...
Wow 26 is close to $500??? |
I've got a pair of #29 in original unpainted black, and a pair of #29 in Arctic Silver... PM me if you need it...

No need to replace the pull bar...it can be removed and repainted for pennies compared to replacing. Color is Aluma Look "ALU 03 EFFECT " and is listed for trim etc.
Code is 4W9 and Dupont stock code is X1070. The key is to not wear any rings on your fingers; they do too much damage. |
Can I get that at a local autozone or something? If you scratch it its black underneath so theres a pretty thick coat of silver on it.
|
If you want black why not by some upholstery leather and some 3M spray adhesive. I wrapped mine with leather and they turned out pretty well.
You can see it in the DIY I did... http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...Leather_06.jpg |
The leather looks nice. The bar is painted silver, then clear coated. I would sand the damaged area smooth and sand enough of the rest of the bar so the new paint can grip. Clear coat and buff when finished. Keep the rings in the drawer.
