Cost of buying a 2002 Porsche Boxster S with 46k miles in New York

So...I thought I would share how much I spent on buying a 2002 Porsche Boxster S. So here goes:

$22,000 - The car itself, bought at Manheim Auto Auction in Manheim, PA
$250 - Dealer charge (I'm not a dealer, so I pay one to buy it for me)
$1043 - Tax and Registration (I wasn't 100% honest about how much the car cost..)
$120 - Passenger side Wind Deflector (it was missing, car looked weird with just one)
$24 - Driver side Roof Tension rope (it was torn, dunno how...its steel)
$230 - H7 Xenon conversion kit, I'm used to xenons, I need them, Litronic too $ ATM
$13 - Oil filter, Drain plug, and drain plug washer (I was gonna change the oil until...)
$1500- RMS, IMS, 4 CV boots, Rear brake pads, and windshield wipers all needed to be changed :(

Grand Total: $25,180 Without insurance....
Wow that was more than I expected, for that price I could get the same year 911...But I like my new Box :D Here are some pics of the repair/car, Enjoy!:

I am curious, why didn't you get an extended warranty?
A warranty for $3k would have almost paid for it self with those repair costs.
But I am glad to hear that you have everything fixed, and are enjoying your Boxster!

I bought the car directly from the auction house, and I've never actually bought a warranty on a used car. Also, I overpaid for the car (although I'm not complaining about the car). With the millage it has it should have gone for about 20k at the auction. I think its because I bought it when summer was first rolling around, and also the cars are supposed to be sold in "perfect" mechanical condition (i.e. no major problems like an RMS/IMS leak).

Where would I even go to get a warranty? Im new to this and its probably useless now (the new RMS are supposed to fix the leak issue), but just out of curiosity and for future reference.

$25K for a 2002 911 - I don't think so. A 2002 911 is still gonna have tax and tags costs associated with it. The cheapest '02 911 I found had 100K miles and was $26K

I couldn't find many 2002s at all, but heres what I did get (more than I said earlier, but its close..):
05/15/08 MANHEIM Regular $32,200 31,051 Avg GRAY 6G 6
07/10/08 FRDKBURG Lease $16,000 55,166 Below SILVER 6G A

And for 2000: (no 2001s were sold recently)
06/26/08 MANHEIM Regular $23,800 60,211 Avg BLUE 6G 6
05/29/08 MANHEIM Regular $26,000 55,412 Avg BLUE 6G 6

Thoughts

The end price isn't that bad according to the latest Excellence mag...$18.7 to $27k depending on condition is what they say. Options and color have some influence too. No hardtop, no lits, no PSM, transmission type can all affect the price a bit.

I value my '01S with 54K miles in needs-nothing condition at $19.5k.

The risk you take of buying at auction...no chance for a PPI. Some might say that is why cars end up there..the dealer who took it in trade didn't want it...either because there were already too many on the market in his area, he couldn't move that kind of car, or he looked at it and didn't want to put any $ into fixing it up.

I paid $20k (a few weeks back) for my 2002 2.7 with 48k miles. I thought it was a bargain compared to the 06 Cayman I was looking at for more than twice the price and with only 25k miles less.
